teenage Jason, he was just like every teenager, who

No one could have believed that two college kids can turnaround a
company who has filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy and which is also
facing IP issues. But here our Jason is who did the impossible and
showed us the path. A

I have a love and hate relationship with Apple. I love their Macbook air and earlier pros but hate their newly launched phones and newly launched macbook pros. This is especially because of their ludicrous prices for the same.
And for that ludicrous price you get even less functionality. Apple sometimes do innovate, if they don't innovate then they polish the features for sure. I will give them credit where it is due. Like- Magsafe charger ports, 3d touch, making fingerprints mainstream and awesome trackpad on laptops.
But iPhone XS Max is a beast of which wants more money than a 1060 GTX laptop.
So what you got if you don't get the Max of iPhone Max(Mentioning the features which iPhone doesn't have)

A phone with a stylus which acts as Remote

A phone with headphone jack

A phone with expandable memory slot(total of 528 GB including above memory card)

A phone with larger battery

A phone with fast charger included out of the box

Best of the class wireless noise cancelling headphone

A tizen powered smartwatch with almost a week of charge

and you would still paying less than 135K INR.(Combining all 4)

Also remember these 4 are not mediocre products, they are best in their class.

This blog is to think outside of the box for your any of the investment and is not limited to iPhones only. Purchase what you need or may need in future not what you want just out of desire. Think usability vs spending price. In economical terms think about utility of your purchase always.

Lastly some points where iPhones exceed any android in the ordered fashion:

Only iPhones can shoot 4k @60 fps right now- I am simply fan of this feature and kudos to Apple for doing it, but I have no use of it.

faceId is unparalleled feature- but again, I can live without it.

AR games- that's a great process technology wise.

Better software updates- that's a good thing about apple that even iPhone5s is getting iOS12.

recently got updates about iPhone XS that it got few problems-

1. Beauty mode is on permanently in the front portrait mode.

2. Charging having some problem

I am not bashing apple for these issue, probably some software glitches.
This phone doesn't only come with dual front camera it is also equipped with 430 Snapdragon processor, 3000 mAh battery , 13 megapixel back camera and 3GB RAM. The phone look and feel sturdy.

I had a book called "Intelligent Investor" from 2015 but couldn't get time to read it. Due to which my portfolio get good punishment in till the end of 2016. Here are the stats

Started investing from July 2015

Till Dec 2016. If my invested amount was x, it's market value was 0.9x

Means I was in overall loss of 10%.

Started reading investing books from Jan 2017.

After much juggling here are the stats after a year ie at the end Dec 2017.

Total amount invested, Y =1.8x

Total current market value= 2.25x (1.23Y)

Total dividends recvd = 3.3% of x (1.8 % of Y=3.3% of yearly return)

Total profit booked =8.6% of x (4.7 % of Y=9% of yearly return)

Total profit perceived =23%+1.8%+4.7%=29.5% of Y =34% of yearly return

As you can see this year I started with -10% return at the start of year to +30% overall return at the end of year. This may be a luck or hard work, I don't know. But I surely know one thing that "At the start of year I gave a target to myself that my portfolio's dividend should be around saving account's interest given by bank. And see I am pretty close to it. This 3.3% vs 3.5%. Where as you have to give 10% tax on saving account interest while dividends are tax free. If you give tax on 3.5% then effectively interest earned by saving account would be 3.15% which is less than what I earned in dividends. This was what wanted from my portfolio and I am happy to get it.

The purpose of this article is motivate people to come to financial knowledge. I am not suggesting to jump into share market by reading few books unless you want to keep track of your portfolio by yourself. Share market has been historically beaten inflation as well as Fixed deposit income. If you want to dive into it. Then I would prefer you to start with mutual funds. I have taken some mutual funds which gave me return more or less than mine. So why take the burden on yourself, study few mutual funds and start with small amount. Take long term approach in the share/equity market.

And last but not the least- Keep learning.

There is a question which is centuries old and still asked by many. The question is- "Is there any God? If yes, does he cares about us?"

The same question was asked me to myself several times. To get the answer, I started digging many old and new books- From scientific books like "the theory of everything by Stephens Hawkin" to religious books like Bhagwad Geeta,Quran and Bible.

As you can imagine, finding this answer is not straight forward. I keep searching for this. Then one day I started comparing A.I. to the human mind. In normal case one would try to compare A.I. advancement while keeping human mind as base. I did the comparison in reverse way. Means, I kept the A.I. advancement as base and compared human mind with it.

A.I. enables us to feed the data and it gives output only based on previous experience or predefined rules. A.I. can also help find the pattern out of scattered data. A.I. usually has multiple stages through which data passes and get transformed, one stage's output feed data to next stage as input. This process can be reversed to get interesting results too.

Doesn't our human mind works like this, actually A.I. tries to mimic to human brain. Am I making any sense?

A.I. improves with number of iterations or say time so does human. If we code to penalise A.I. for its mistakes it will learn from mistakes so does human.

So what is a perfect A.I. - which can take situational decisions without being biased and without taking external help. How much time we can take to built such perfect A.I. - that's debatable. My prediction is never for a generic A.I. . Although we can create A.I. for specific tasks but creating a generic A.I - I will wait and watch.

My question to myself was - Can God program such a perfect A.I.? God can do anything right? Thus he created us(human mind per se) which is an example of perfect A.I.

The best thing about perfect AI is that it doesn’t need changes to its program to reach a sensible output in a changed condition.

Take example of Tesla autonomous driving as an example- in its earlier phase people find it buggy to take decision by itself. Turns and lane changing were not smooth. But even without software update it got better.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_Autopilot
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/jul/01/tesla-autopilot-model-s-crash-how-does-it-work

Similarly human makes mistake, God is not here to guide us - what to do next? We have to figure it out by ourselves. And as we know God makes no mistakes - he has given us inherit capabilities to learn and guide ourself in almost every condition. If you get hurt physically, you learn to avoid the same mistake. Simple!

So there is a God who built us so beautifully that we can guide can ourself to achieve anything. Buddha, Muhammad and Mahavir got their learning and lessons by themselves and tried to make this world a better place to live in.

Eventually, we can do the same. We need not to follow what our traditions and religions say. Following those only fall in supervised learning, which is not a big deal to code. What matters is - unsupervised learning, we are built for that. If we used to follow what is said before- there would no no new inventions. Take any modern product and show it to 200 year old guy - he would say all these inventions as magic or trick. This is the beauty of our human mind that we can think what other haven't thought of till date. Take Einstein as an example - " His special theory of relativity" was a matter of debate that. He thought of himself and today we are just enough capable of proving his various theories through experiment because at that these experiment were not possible.

https://www.wired.com/2017/06/physicists-find-another-gravitational-wave-prove-einstein-right/

God probably is busy doing some other stuffs than monitoring our human life every once here and there. If he has not created the best version of A.I., he would have launched A.I. V2.0 long back then- you never know which version you are. As God is the perfect maker - I don't think he need to maintain any version. Otherwise, versioning is itself a complicated tool. But do you think God has made a mistake so he needs to bring version V2.0?? Not, right??

I believe in him. He created us directly the best version and revolution and evolution lies within us. It is our capabilities what we want to learn and achieve from this infinite universe.

Remember, you can be Tesla - driven by itself or a Chevy - driven by some human. [Sorry Chevy I have to take your name till you reach a good level of AI].

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">We know that current state of higher education in India is not in top form. Here are some points which I want to highlight..

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">*** Current Scenario

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">

1. Theory based University Education.

2. More weight-age to theoretical papers.

3. Poor Infrastructure.

4. Severe negligence to intelligent students who are very good a particular subject not in all subject.

5. Lack of experienced teacher in terms of industrial exposure.

6. Government funding is not sufficient or funding is mismanaged.

7. Syllabus is not upto-date.

8. Student feedback system is absent or not known.

9. NPTEL course material is good enough but not known to all university.

10. Some university sessions run late due to which a degree course takes more time than required.

*** What can be done::

1. Training of faculty members to

1.1 update about current industrial standards

1.2 update about current industrial trends

1.3 appreciate the efforts of students who want to go beyond the syllabus and want to invent/develop something.

1.4 having proper practical knowledge of subject.

1.5 conduct workshops relevant to their majors

2. Time to time inter university or Intra- University initiatives, competitions and workshops

3. Universities should have special fund to invest in an idea or project if found promising.

4. Proper infrastructure so that students can do their hands-on effectively and efficiently.

5. Keeping the practical tool updated: e.g: TurboC is still used in universities whereas it's support has been withdrawn from 2009. Similarly Adobe Flash is going to be absolute so there is no need to put efforts in learning that.

6. Although arrangement of guest faculties is norm in universities/colleges, but still not very popular form of teaching. We can do this arrangement for specific topics instead of subject specific.

7. Free availability of research papers are available for few universities only, government can make some arrangements that small colleges and universities get same kind of benefits also.

8. In every universities we can have an IP(Intellectual Property) Panel, which help to expedite to get patents for the innovations done by students during their college term.

9. Government can put some incentive program for universities who keep on publishing new research papers. This will increase competitive environment.

I was a Doordarshan guy, ummm ... rather, I am still a Doordarshan guy. Since my childhood whenever I used to see news there was stock news on a daily basis. I couldn't understand how it worked. But, the only thing I knew that we gamble in it and we can earn or lose the money quickly there.

But anyway, I was curious about it and I was sure I will enter into it someday. When I started or rather before starting I made some big mistakes, like

I was sure I will start investing in it, but when ? This was not decided, this is where I failed miserably. I should have started just after job joining i.e. Nov 2011. Rather I started in July 2015. I have taken some sample stocks I invested in 6 months after July 2015. So, I have taken an example of average price from May 2012(which I missed) and Jan 2016 after 6 months from July 2016. So if you notice due to delay, I have to spend almost 70% more on same stocks. If I factor inflation and my stock weightage, I have paid around 80% more money for the same stocks. In reverse way you can think that if I would have started investing around Dec 2011. My profit would have been more than 80% till Jan 2016. Moral: Start as early as possible and invest regularly.

Not having financial knowledge before investing. If you want to invest in equities for long term then you must have some knowledge beforehand. This was my second biggest mistake. If you analyse the above portfolio the P/E is close to 25. This is what exactly Benjamin Graham is put as a upper level. So I am still at high risk. And all this happened because the book "The Intelligent Investor" was sitting idle on shelf when I started investing. Moral: If you want to invest in equity by yourself read some investment books and do some dummy trading/investment. See the graph what happens when you invest without knowledge. More down than up.

Ignored the value of SIP and mutual funds. I knew that I am not good enough to know market. Despite this fact I didn't go SIP route initially. This was because I never had someone who recommended it and those quick ads like "Mutual Funds are subjected to market risk and blah blah. " This kept me away from it till long time and missed golden opportunity to make some money. Moral: Start investing in mutual funds through if you are not an expert.

Going after quantity instead of quality. Although this point can be covered under point No. 2. But I find it a separate issue. There may be chances that you can find a great stock with high price tag and low P/E and a good enough stock at pretty low price per stock but at high P/E. Moral: Don't go after quantity rather invest in quality but make sure you don't pay a premium price i.e. higher P/E. Like if I would have invested in MRF in Mar2012 @10k. Today's value is close to 56k and at this price P/E is still under 16. Having lots of penny stocks is no good.

This 5th point is actually the first point, the mistake I made was - purchasing an endowment life insurance plan, in which I was able to get double the return in 15 years which was accumulated in those 15 years. This sounded reasonable at that time whereas I was not able to calculate the return percentage for the same. Let's talk about the figures- I paid around 260000 and returned the policy in 4 years, if I had done some SIPs or even bank's RD it would become 4 lakh and 3.5 lakhs respectively. But I returned the policy and got only 160000. My overall loss is around 200000. Again around 80% of loss :( . Moral: Don't go for endowment insurance plan, its returns are pretty poor and your money remains stuck with your insurer. Keep an SIP or RD for investments.

Not having stop loss on my investments. This was one of the early days mistakes for which my portfolio is showing losses. Always put stop loss according to your risk appetite and companies fundamentals so that your hard earned money doesn't go waste.

These are a few mistakes made till date, however I tried to correct it one by one as soon as I realised them. Here are course correction steps:

My nephew is one of the naughty and crazy kid around. I never knew the creative side of him. When I was shortlisted for the Colgate magic stories, I thought I will let him play with it and see where it goes. When the gift arrived, he was already aware about this series. He was very happy that all of three unique cards have arrived.
He cut the pack with great zeal. I also helped him a bit to expedite. He even corrected me when I put one card in wrong base.
He was reluctant to make story at first. So I had to blackmail him. I put the condition that he can take away those cards only if he writes the story. I handed him a paper and pen and I left the room.
“”Once there were two scientist, one’s name was Jack and other’s name was John. They had listen that there are aliens on Mars. So one day they decided to travel a long journey. (To find aliens maybe!!!). They started making their own spaceship. After many months their spaceship got ready to fly.

They dressed in astronauts suite and launched the spaceship. After an hour they were in space, they decided first not to go to Mars but to Neptune. They were going at the speed of light for Neptune. After reaching there they didn’t find any alien there. So they went to Urenus but no luck then move to Saturn then Jupitor but no luck there also. Finally they landed on Mars, as they had listened that there were aliens on Mars.

Jack and John parted in different directions in search of aliens. Jack gone in the west and John gone in the east. They both taken a gun with themselves for safety. Walking and walking Jon had gone in the area where aliens lived.

When an alien saw a strange person in its area he got very angry. It fired on John but target got missed. John got scared what was happening! At that moment a UFO came flying in front of him. He quickly understood that it was an alien attack. He called Jack to help him and destroy the alien.

Jack quickly took the spaceship and reached where John was fighting with aliens. John was in real trouble but Jack went and saved John. After that both fought with the aliens and destroyed them.””

I am quite impressed by Ashutosh's imagination, I will shamelessly use him more. :P

If you read even a bit of recent technological news, you may have fair idea where it all going! And besides all the advancement, the main concern of our era is quick and revolutionary advancement of AI.

Before going into further detail, let's discuss some progresses already achieved in AI.

You can be uniquely identified by your voice with 90% of accuracy. Link

Voice recognition has been as good as human being. These first two points jointly identifies who you are and what you are talking about. Link

Face recognition accuracy has been reached to 97%, where as human accuracy has been around 96%. More or less AI is reaching there where your one image can be identified at different places with certainty. Link

Letter scanning technology has been improved so far that it can identify your cursive handwriting with 99% of accuracy. Scan any image containing any text, it will identify and highlight texts within it. Be it a machine text or human text AI is now able to extract the textual information. Link (Read Conclusion)

Google's AI Deep Mind is able to defeat world's Go Champion Lee in 4-1. This is done through AI without much computation as supposed earlier with such game's complexity. Link

Driverless cars are now a reality. Tesla is one such good example. Google has been running it's driverless cars for 2 years successfully. Link

News story can be created in real time with the help of AI. The AI Threat Isn’t Skynet. It’s the End of the Middle Class
Elon Musk: artificial intelligence is our biggest existential threat

AI works best where there is certain rules to follow and need little human intervention, but it is not limited to above use case only. It can learn almost all of human skills in quick manner if it is programmed that way whether it is a labour intensive job or requires a creative thinking.
Knowing the recent speed and efforts companies are putting in AI, there is no surprise there will be AI for all kind of job, in that scenario what will human left to do is a big question to think!!!
Now you got the fair idea that AI is reading at human level or at par with human in some or other fields. In today's internet world it will take no longer to reach such technology to other part of planet. (Read developed world to developing world). We will see more and more applications based on AI in near future at a rapid rate. Everything that can be automated will be automated.
But there is a catch for you, once automation will be in place, it will be hard to bypass/trick an AI based robot. Let's see some hypothetical examples:

Suppose there is a Robotic Traffic Police Man which controls traffic as well as gives challan to traffic rule violators. Can you manage to bribe that Robo Cop? There is a 100% surety that it can't be bribed and 99% chance that it can't be fooled.

Similarly if you have evaded some taxes then some Robot based income tax inspector will come to arrest you, can you bribe him?

In coming 5 to 10 years, it will be hard to evade from your wrong karma and if you are able to escape from God's punishment make no mistake. AI will punish you for sure. He will track your current record as well as previous records and will do the needful.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> We both were working in the same company. And after getting into relationship we came to know that both of us never thought of joining this company, rather we didn't even know the company name. Joining this very company itself a long story for both of us. So skipping this company joining part. So I joined this company on 1 st of Nov 2011. And she joined 21st of Nov 2011 with another girl[Let's call this another girl Any]. But destiny has different plans for us[better plans for us-we realized later].

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> So, I started training Any and my colleague started training her. At first look she was like Ok type [in boys language]. I had hardly any conversation with her and I hardly gave any special attention to her. Time kept passing , we usually used to talk in the lunch time , because she used to eat my lunch after finishing her lunch.[note: rare girl found here]. And then we used to have little walk after the lunch. After some time I kinda like the idea of walk after the lunch.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> Till this time , I used to like another girl[Say Any2] in the office and we had good time in office, Me and Any2 became good friends . Our HR and Manager were jealous of our friendship. I could easily recognize their expressions. So this continues for 2 months . Now then a new project came and resource allocation was planned by my managers. I don't know out of jealously or what neither Any nor Any2 came into my Project.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> So,in this project there were 5 peoples. I ,she and 3 more guys. These 3 guys were senior to me in the company so they were good friends . That how we came closer,because

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">1. Our nearest metro station was same to our client side

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">2. We were left out by those three.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">So travel time+lunch time + project discussions brought her close to me . After three months working together I fell in love with her. But every time I used to think,no this can't be true. I just like her .

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">So I kept ignoring my feelings. And then this project ended and I was moved to some other projects.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> Now I was in another project with another beautiful and cute girls in [July-Oct 2012]. So I thought now feelings for her should vanish. But no it gets stronger and stronger . The more I try to look towards another girls, the more my heart remembers her. So finally I got to know beta Rahul- now your mind and heart have the chemical locha. You can't ignore it. So I finally decided to propose her. And I wrote all my feeling in form of so called love letter and planned to give her with proposal.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> Now the proposal[22-09-12] day,we planned to meet after her interview at Sec-18 noida , it was pretty hard to get a date with her so I said after interview we can meet easily. Interview started at 10:00 , so I expected to end it around 11 or 11:30. So I reached KFC at 11:00 and called her but the phone got Busy that means interview is still going. So, I kept waiting there with flowers, 3 small gifts and with my love letter . During the wait of 4 hours I almost tried all drinks of KFC with the lowest possible intake rate. First time ever I was not able to enjoy any of the drinks due combination of nervousness and excitement. So finally I got a call around 15:00 and she told that interview was not that good[meri to lag gayi - I thought beta mood to sahi nhi hoga iska aaj, aur tu propose karega aaj,tera pitna pakka hai chhore] . She then said ki cancel KFC and let's go to CP, we will have some food. I agreed instantly as I had no time to lose or wait.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> Now, we were in the CCD of Rajiv Chauk. Here even after a good cup of coffee, she easily traced my nervousness and asked ki ghadi to 4 bajaa rahi hi tumhaare chehre pe 12 kyun baje hain. I couldn't reply anything, just said bas aise hi. There were several things happening in my mind . I was not able to think where should I start and how should I start. So , to ease her mood [mine as well] I gifted her one of the gift to her. She liked it very much. But still I couldn't figure out how I should I start. I couldn't propose her at CCD. So we went up to Central Park.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> Now, we were in the CP talking all the random stuff, but still I couldn't have the enough courage to say her. Then my best friend Ruchi 's call came that she will be at Rajiv Chauk in 10 mins. I went to metro again to bring her in the CP. In the meantime I conveyed all feeling for her to Ruchi and ask her if she can help me .

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">During the conversation Ruchi tried to figure out what's going inside her mind. I asked Ruchi in the language of eyes . Ruchi clearly indicated that I have no chance.[Meri to lagg gayi]. But I was determined that this is the day, I won't find any other day or life to propose her. Thinking all of this the time passed and girls planned to leave for the day. I was like NOOOOOOOOOOO..... Then as soon as she/they started to move from CP , I bent on my knees and gave the second gift which was a keychain of heart inside heart[ meaning for me was - I will keep your heart safe inside my heart.] and said that Please take my heart. She was not expecting a proposal from me so she thought it was some kind of joke or prank, but after looking my serious face she asked are you serious ..? I said "Yes, aur Tujhe kya lagta hai? subah se mere face pe 12 aiwe hi baja hua tha.? ". She then said as you proposed me, there shouldn't be any change between us. We were friends and we will be friends. I said i have no issues.[ In my mind I wanted to hear the same].

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> Now, we were inside the metro,Ruchi left us at Central Secretariat and we continued the same metro. Now to light up the mood. I gave the flowers and showed her the third gift . And said if u had accepted my proposal I would have gave the third one also.But I won't give you now. I will give this to you whichever comes earlier either your acceptance<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> or your birthday<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">.[Don't know why I kinda blackmailed her]

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> Time passed and an office trip was planned . I clearly said to her if you are not coming , I am not going too. Then she agreed to come , but along with her elder sister . Mai to fas hi gya ab naa to haan bol paaya naa naa. So we all (7 colleagues) started our journey in an Innova around 8 pm. I was in last row with her and her sister. As expected her sister was sitting between us.Then we stopped for dinner around 10 pm . After dinner her sister gave the chance to sit her with me [Don't know if she did intentionally or not]. We had awesome Antakshari <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">till 1 a.m. then all of them got sleepy except me. As she was just sitting beside me her head used to come to my shoulder time to time, but as soon as she got to know she just kept her straight, but it was long journey. After one hour her head finally landed to my shoulder for the long time as she was in deep sleep. This feeling was out of the world. At this time all I wanted was may this head remain on my shoulder forever and ever. I made sure that she don't feel the jerk of vehicle. She woke up in the morning and saw me awaking and asked if I was awake whole night . I lied that no I just woke up. But yes she got to know that whole night her head was on my shoulders.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> Now we were still inside that Innova. In the morning after her waking up , I gathered some courage and hold her hand. Due to shock or some running thoughts she parted her hand after 2 or 3 minutes.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I thought that this was the end of my love story and suddenly a miracle happened and now she was holding my hand . I kept holding her hand for the whole office trip in front of all 4 other colleagues without fearing all possible gossip ,rumors and taunts. This was my experience of Magic of Warmth in the cold night as an acceptance came silently without uttering a word. Sometimes we don't need to tell what we feel, the person whom you love can get to know your feelings very easily. <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Every time I meet her it seems that this is the best day ever. And I am fortunate to that I still feel the Magic Warmth touch everyday, as she is my wife now. :).

Investing in stock market is risky- we all know this fact. But how risky ? - This is the question which we all want to know or some people don't want to know just because being risky is enough for them to stay away from the market.

Before reading further let me put this declaimer : "I am a fairly new investor(1 and half year old in market to be precise), so my view will be fairly limited to my experience of market as well as studies done by me.

This article is all about how to learn and start investing in market without taking much risk. Let's start. (Earlier you start, better the returns):-

If you don't want to track stock market on daily or monthly basis and fluctuations make your heart beat faster then go for Balanced Mutual Funds(Open ended with growth option).

If you can bear the fluctuations and ready to take some risks go for Equity Mutual Funds

If you want to save taxes as well while investing in Mutual Funds go for ELSS.

Note: Prefer Open Ended Mutual Funds with Growth Options only. Choose dividend Mutual Funds when you need regular returns from Mutual Funds.

If your risk appetite is still little higher than that and want to make your hands dirty with manual selections of stocks, go ahead with following steps in mind. These steps are meant for long term investment horizon.

Start with small amount. Limit 5-10% of your annual income in first year.

Purchase only quality stocks companies which you know and their annual turnover is respectable.(Nifty 100 or BSE S&P 200)

Search for unpopular large companies, there may be some companies which may be part of S&P 100 or 200 but not so popular in masses due to their business model, such companies can be bought at bargain.

Maximum price to be paid for any share should not reach more than 25 times their P/E.

Search for the stocks which are at low due to some temporary issues. Like- Flood or some natural disaster affecting their business.

Never buy a share which has been subjected to some lawsuits.

Keep buying at regular interval. This will average your buying price and help in good return in long term.

A great company may not be a great investment if you buy it overprices.(refer to P/E rule)

Don't put all of your eggs in a basket. Means diversify your investment but not too much. Purchase different sectors.

If you get chance to put your money in foreign market don't put more than 1/3 of your portfolio.

Don't rely much on market forecasts and market experts.

Never sell all of your stocks no matter how much market is overvalued.

When you think market is overvalued sell the stocks and keep the money in bonds and repurchase when you feel market is undervalued.

Never buy after a substantial rise or fall of market.

Make sure company has paid regular dividend from last 5 to 10 years.

Don't try to beat the market, try to make return close to market returns.

Index funds does the best job as they don't try to beat the market.

See cashflow statement of company and see if their income from operations is increasing through out the years.

Look for the debt on company it should be less than 50% of their capital. (D/E should be less than 0.5)

Start your investment from ETFs and Mutual Funds to understand market sentiments.

Make a virtual portfolio from sites like moneycontrol.com and add your favourite stocks in it and match market return.

Don't frequently buy and sell as brokerage charges and taxes can make your actual gain less.

Take benefits of 1 year lock advantage for equity as capital gain is free from taxes.

Hope this helps. Keep investing.

This is the second book from Atul Gawande that I have just read, what a thought provoking and ground shaking book it is. Both of the books are distinctly connected to each other. In “checklist Manifasto” he talks about how checklist can save lives and in being mortal he talks about how one should die.

I have read only a few dozens of non-curriculum books but non of them talked about this issue even in small details. The only reason I can conclude is – Death is ultimate fear of one's life, we are scared to core just thinking about it. Hearing “Death” word gives you some or other kind of goosebumps, but can you escape it- No, probably never. If it is unavoidable – do you want to talk about it- there is also a No here.

This is what Atul has accomplished in this book, he talked about it and talked pretty gracefully and interesting. No where in the book it feels boring or too scary.

Book's tag line is -”Medicine and what matters in the end”. And same is the motto of writer. Whatever Atul is trying to conclude can't be covered in this review. This book is highly recommended for people who are more than 50 and for those who are taking care such people.

Some focus points of this book are as follow:

This book helps you decide whether you should opt for medical help or not. if taken medical help how long you should be taking it and when you can decide to stop it.

This will also help whether to get medical help at home or in hospital or in hospice.

This is another book which establishes connection between a healthy person with helping family.

You will also notice beside family and medicine, there are other factors that can help you get well

It tells you difference between your horizon vs Doctor's horizon.

<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 16px; margin-bottom: 0in; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">

This is a book of reference of its own kind, if you have it you will definitely revisit it throughout your life. One worthy for book for our bookShelf(physical or digital).

I born in a town (Sasaram) where I have literally no access to nature. I was introduced to nature by none other than Mike Pandey. After watching "Earth Matters" I got to know why loved to visit the nurseries around my town. These nurseries are situated in the far West of the town. Around these nurseries there is a dense bunch of trees. Since my childhood I loved that place, I didn't know the reason behind it.

After reading various books and during my PG in environmental science, I found the reason behind it. And the reason is not complex besides nature being fairly complex. And the reason is - we are made by nature so there is no-brainer that we like it by default. It's inside us, we have to listen and follow our heart. Then our mind will act in similar manner.

I can still remember those rainy days when I used to just stare on trees, plants , ponds while it was raining. Recently I visited to Pangot and the most amazing thing there was - crystal clear sky at night if no clouds wandering here and there. That moment my eyes felt alive- my mind dived into the depth of the sky. I was calm and relax. And that type of calmness I felt only when I was in Kanatal in 2012. It took 3 years to reach that soul level calmness. My whole office was partying in the night while I was busy watching stars at Pangot. What I missed most there- my family should have been there to watch those stars along side me.

We have surely forgotten our roots, from where we came(city,village?), from where our food comes(malls,supermarket?), from where the fresh refreshing air comes(ACs?) from where our drinking water comes(water purifiers, municipality?). If you think any of the answer in the bracket is right- sorry to say you have surely not gone close to the nature enough. There is one answer to all the questions- All comes from the nature in their raw form, you need not to refine them to reach you. And these things comes from nature for free. See the current scenario you can correlate by yourself

You now pay for food, if you are a farmer- you have almost no choice but to purchase seeds from big corporates.

You now pay for fresh air- through air purifiers or air conditioners.

You now pay for water- municipality, water purifiers and water tankers

If we don't stop polluting our mother Earth, future can be very dark where we have to purchase some compressed air to breath, just what already happened to your drinking water. We need to stop this mess. And the best way to do it is to-

teach our kids the value of nature, by taking them away from city or town to a natural place.

Saving the nature in its current situation i.e. Ctrl+s and then step by step giving nature back whatever we have taken from it.

If we don't start Ctrl+S nature can take its measure to rectify it which is equivalent to Ctrl+Alt+Del. Surely you don't want this to be happen to your kids. I have already written the current scenario in details what can be done through the tag.

I don't know how to start describing Holi. Holi is definitely a celebration of colours, besides that in my home town it's celebration of brotherhood as well as celebration of family bonding.
You know how Holi is celebrated in India, more or less customs are same everywhere in north India atleast but I want to describe how Holi is celebrated in my Hometown and in my village. Only you can decide how much it is different from yours place.

Holi@Sasaram - My Hometown
Being a town here Holi celebration is bit filmy at the start. At start means at the day of Holi from morning to afternoon( 5 pm is cutoff). So it starts with matki phodu event like this

A band of guys with a band start with some pre-defined place and move this band to the whole locality with song and music. And all families pour colour or water on them. After covering all locality and they go for matki place. And every Majnu tries to impress her Laila by trying to smash the matki. After this event all guys go to their respective home or friends home to have their lunch with sweets and all.
This was schedule of some gangs of boys, not every guy take part in this. These remaining guys used to go to their friend's house to put colour on him and take their friend along with him. Thus again creating a gang and moving house to house putting colour on people according to relations. Eating and colouring goes on and on each house.
Around 3 and 4 pm all chaos comes to a halt for some rest and removing colours from all parts of body :P.
Then phase 2 of the Holi starts in evening around 5 pm, where again each individual goes to their relatives and neighbours for their blessing and Holi congratulations. In this phase no water and liquid colour is used. Only abeer or say dry colour is used.
In phase1 mostly friends are involved in each activity where as in phase 2 , family and relatives are covered. We take blessing of our elders by putting some putting some dry colours on their feet. They gave us blessing to us by rubbing the dry colour on our face. Everybody tries to meet as many as many relatives they can meet.

Holi@Sasaram - My Village
My village is around 40 KM is away from my home town, it has slightly different way of celebrating holi. I will mention only the differences from Sasaram, rest is same as of Sasaram if not mentioned.

No matki phodu event

Chaita song like this at Holi night .

Awesome night before Diwali where boys act some kind of prank at each targeted house.

Lighting crackers also happens a day-night before diwali.

Don't know why but due to Chaita only I like Holi at my village most. Please let us know in the comment section how much different is Holi celebration at your place?

I have been observing women and their difficulties in empowerment since
my childhood. Whether it is for political power or power to put
any point in family.

Whatever I know through my experience is that- everybody wants some kind of
power. Women also want power, but their choice of power may be different from
men. That’s why I think it took this long claim their equality. Why I
am saying this – because if women wanted equality like men they would
have regained very earlier.

Women
constitute 50% of human population. How 50% of population can dominate
other 50%. Do you have any reason for this, I don’t have any. Women’s
50% consists of mother and wife. How many men do you think can survive without
mother and wife 5 to 10%? Your answer.

If women lost their power in the process of civilization or modernization, I
would blame them too, why? Because you can’t expect from anybody to
not to take advantage of you (women) if you don’t let it happen. It’s a
known fact that women lack unity, this is why taking advantage of them
is easy.

Tell me some good example of women unity in comments if you
have any. If you talk about India, you will say women don’t dominate due
to lack of education or a patriarchal society, but what about west.
Why even Google, Facebook and Microsoft are trying very hard to bring more
women onboard……….where is the fault? Whom to blame? Interviewer? Company
Policy? Family pressure?

According to USA’s National science foundation
women have higher degree ratio but men dominate them in science and
technology. It’s under 25% (Means- for every 100 students, there are more than 75 men and less than 25 women - Tell me dear
women how do you really expect equality when you are opting out high paying and technological degrees (STEM in particular) by yourself.

See the report now

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Indian-science-institutes-missing-womans-touch/articleshow/51300646.cms

Dear ladies, if you want luxury of equality, you have to work hard
equally like men. You have to come out of comfort zone. Please don’t
want a Prince charming who will come and you won’t have to work ever. I
know most of you are not like this but still there are male
dominating field and women dominating field. And most dominating field
is not that tough as you may think. Like being a computer science
engineer. It require all the skills your already have or you can gain it
from the hard work and experience.

I am waiting for ladies to join these fields where they should be present.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , "arial"; font-size: 13.4px; line-height: 19.1429px; text-align: center;">You need to know if you wanna be

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , "arial"; font-size: 13.4px; line-height: 19.1429px; text-align: center;">As the first few lines and of course the title of this post itself conveys that i have not found my man yet. And yes,, of course it doesn't mean that i have not thought about the #kasam aur #vaada that i want from my future dear hubby. So my dear future hubby ,,, be ready ;) Here comes few of the kasams out of the long list.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , "arial"; font-size: 13.4px; line-height: 19.1429px; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , "arial"; font-size: 13.4px; line-height: 19.1429px; text-align: center;">1. I want my man to make a promise that as <span style="font-family: "verdana" , "arial";">I would be going to accept his family wholeheartedly, he should also accept my family in the same way. The way <span style="font-family: "verdana" , "arial";">I would be going to give the love and respect to all his family members, <span style="font-family: "verdana" , "arial";">I accept the same from him for my family too.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , "arial"; font-size: 13.4px; line-height: 19.1429px; text-align: center;">2.The second promise that <span style="font-family: "verdana" , "arial";">I want from him is that sometimes <span style="font-family: "verdana" , "arial";">I may be irritated and may act in a crazy way ,,, so in those moments he must understand me and be by my side. <span style="font-family: "verdana" , "arial"; font-size: 13.4px; line-height: 19.1429px; text-align: center;">4.Promise to go with me on shopping. and not just go,,, <span style="font-family: "verdana" , "arial";">I also want him to help me out genuinely in making choices while shopping. (I know ,,, ye thoda mushkil hai,,, but if he loves me ,, he will bear it with too... :D )

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , "arial"; font-size: 13.4px; line-height: 19.1429px; text-align: center;">5. Secret and Lies Kill relationship. So no Lies please. I want him to promise me that he will never lie to me. Promise to be a true and faithful partner.
Like a hydra, you kill one, many more are born. For the survival of the ISIS, there has to be money power to manage affairs and buy weapons. And Money is her oxygen, ISIS can’t survive without it. But this money is coming from the sale of oil. . It barely took anytime, USA within three days, had Japan on her knees during the Second World War. America has more respectable feathers in her cap, if one goes by the conspiracy theories about her technological advancement.

But still when it comes to terrorism, somehow America keeps on killing and terrorism keeps on growing. The capitalistic model of economy believes that there is invisible hand of god, in a free economy, which shows light to the economies. For a vibrant and proper functioning economy, it’s very important to have free and fair trade. Any restrictions will only harm the business. In the global world everything is interrelated, and now such a time has come, if China sneezes, oil market gets cold. The best way to end the reign of terror is not by bombing her but cutting off her oil business. But the question is who is buying her oil and why can’t it be stopped? Wasn’t it a rational and logical, if America and Russia had given a little thought to it, before flashing their tools of manhood, modern weapons.

In international affairs it could be my hallucinations, myopic understanding and the smokes from oil might have blurred my vision but atlest I can be sure of what is happening around me. My Delhi, Dying Delhi. In Delhi there are two kinds of human species and mind you it’s not male or female. But they are known as supporters of Modi and Kejriwal. For the success of Modi failures of Kejriwal is required and vice a versa. The ODD-EVEN, more than improving the the Air Quality Index or any other thing has exposed the judiciary.

Like a pervert, the High court of Delhi wanted the pollution level to be down in just within a week of the trials. It asked the Delhi government if the pollution level is not coming down what’s the point of continuing with the scheme. To this Delhi government had her answer prepared, that it needed a longer period to conduct the trials, argued that the pollution had come down and showed with emphasis that the traffic has improved.

This scheme covers only 10% of the vehicles running on the roads, and Odd Even scheme will mean that, out of those vehicles, half will be on roads.(Not considering the cases, where people have the option of plenty to choose, having many four wheelers) So it means 95% of the things are maintained as it is. And on the basis of the 5% change, the court and people wanted to obliterate the pollution done since the last two centuries in just a week. What is more ironical and humorous is that the court demanding results and the Delhi government proving it. It’s a lot like a student proving a problem of mathematical induction, where he knows the end result but not the correct method to solve it but as he knows the answer, he proves it anyway and anyhow.

The judiciary few months ago, which declared that in an independent nation she is more independent. She refused to come under the control of ‘the legislative and executives’ and ensured ‘Indian democracy continues to be the tyranny of the unelected.’

How can one become adept to sit on the judge’s chair to ask why the pollution is not coming down? What it takes to be that person, who doesn’t know that environment is an open system, the pollutants from the nearby areas by the action of wind can come to Delhi and the damage of centuries can’t be wiped in few weeks. The answer for this idiocy is that there is no concrete basis for one to become judge, any of the Tom, Dick and Harry can become a High court judge all he needs is to be in the good books of the collegium of the judges, who do the appointments, no merit, no basis, no grounds for selection or rejection (all you need is to be a practicing lawyer, regardless of bad or horrible for a decade). And this arbitrariness is called as ‘independence’ in their corridors.

From reservation to the election of the president, it’s the judiciary which has the final say in things, and our judiciary herself is like that ostrich, which has permanently buried her head into the sand. She will correct everything but not herself, she will wage war on corruption but will be blind eye to the erroneous selection procedures. And anybody who will try to show her that something is wrong, she will act against him, as speaking against the court amounts to contempt.

Hitler, Mussolini, Napoleon and others they demanded unequivocal support from their masses, they demanded blind support and they ruled like the ultimate authority, you were either pro Hitler or anti nationalist. Today in the battle of politics, the youth specially the ones from Delhi are in similar position. The Odd Even plan is not a wrestling arena for being a pro Modi/Kejriwal but for the environment. Environment is not your World Trade Organisation, where a decision in the favour of one necessarily will have to be against the other (weaker nation most of the times) but it about coming together to save the only planet that we have, to heal a little, our mother earth.

Odd Even, though I neither support or reject it altogether but this is not how you protect the nature. More than Odd Even plan we need a sustainable approach and that is to have CNG and electric vehicles in the transitional cities like Bhopal, Indore, Ahmedabad, who will be the metros of tomorrow, why we are waiting for Mumbai and Kolkatta to become the next gas chambers? Why we are not relenting from our habit of solving problems on the ad hoc basis? Why are we waiting for the things to deteriorate and environment to degrade in other cities? Why can’t we be ready with solutions in advance?

Humans have history of over 60 lakhs years and we learnt to speak and write few thousand years ago. But remember we survived when we couldn’t communicate, the naked man survived the harsh weather and nature. A lonely man living in a cave evolved to into the social animal of the modern world. We were at peace, when we had nothing. We were then ugly but it never mattered because we had the will to survive and we survived.

But what is more saddening is the fact that we have in the last few centuries, become only beautiful not intelligent, man’s modern progress is a very fast paced journey towards apocalypse. North Korea yesterday claimed that she has hydrogen bomb, she is adorned with the modern jewels and undoubtedly she would have found herself to be more beautiful after the detonations. But is this what we want? The bust of bombs, the erection of nukes, the pervert governments and brainless citizens, where are we pushing ourselves? Why are we so blind? Limited by nationalism bounded by professionalism, man has forgotten the art of rebellion, he has given up his inner instincts and reasoning for a Bimbo world.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1042259292156053079.post-85397858220919121642015-12-30T14:01:00.000-08:002015-12-31T12:37:17.940-08:00Book review Part - 5 : The BestSeller She wrote

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Ravi Subramanian was introduced to me by Blogadda.com , by giving me one of his best creation - God is a Gamer. Being not a fan of fictional stories I always search for contents which I usually search inside a book as a technical personal was- technical details of the technical things. God is a gamer didn't disappointed me, so I went forward and applied for his next release : The BestSeller She Wrote.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I had similar expectation from TBSW as God is a Gamer had created a different impression to me altogether.But this fiction is different from all other Ravi's fiction. You will feel the difference after reading 5-10 pages. This contains all the Bollywood drama emotion and tragedy. This surely meets the Bollywood criteria.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Story starts as you expected from book tagline and goes with same flow almost till the end but if you have read a Ravi's fiction, things don't go as straight as you would expect, here he does the same. But he could have done better, Ravi is better than this.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">May be that's because I have set my expectations a bit more than previous thriller God is a Gamer. It does not lose it pace in between the reading, although I have read it in 4 days due for time constraints. I know how difficult it was to put the book on table without finishing it. It contains love, sacrifice, betrayal, dedication and redemption - of course. I noticed one more this time- it got more erotica than Ravi's <span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">previous creations. I won't spill the beans you have to find it own.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Last but not the least the message from book is clear that Karma hits you back. It does not matter who you are, it will chase you until you get what you have sown. It tells us how important is family is for us and what it matters in the course of life's journey. We may be blind for obvious truth but truth is truth and when it comes to adultery, it is not a compulsion for anyone in any condition it is just a matter of choice. Ebola angle was also a surprise for me and appreciate the detail about the disease written by the author. And another thing I liked the most is in this there is reference of Blogadda.com, that made me feel privileged being part of blogadda family. And I learned a lot about book publishing and writing. It tells us to put our feet on ground when we fly above cloud 9.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> Although in this book there is a happy ending but it won't be in every case in real life.
India is a diverse country with varieties of artistic products. But here is main problem is demand and supply gap. This gap is due to low purchasing power in the locality where the product is being made. Actually hand made products are costlier due to two facts:

High cost and effort of human labour

High material cost due to hand picked materials by individuals.

This has why these art becomes so expensive that it became almost impossible to consume all of it locally.
Best example is Banarasi Sarees and Madhubani painting.
For the both mentioned reason these arts are expensive.

<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">I am big fan of Got(game of thrones). Whenever it displays winter is coming I get delighted instead of being frightened. Why ? because -winter is itself cool.
And I am one of those who takes advantage of this chilled weather. The biggest advantage is to - almost freedom to eat anything. This includes freedom to eat sweets and desserts without getting bulky.
And my favourite is none other than is Gaajar ka Halwa and that too self made.
I have learnt this through my mom. He cooks it best. But as live far from her. I try to feed my hunger through mine cooking and I am not a bad cook at all when it comes to desserts and sweets.
Now let's get into the business.
I would try to make Gaajar ka Haywards for two people and keep the same ratio in case of more number of persons. You need fresh carrot 1 kg. Pick the sweetest of carrot from market.

<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">1 kg full cream milk or

<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">200-250 gram of mawa or khoya

<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"> 50 gram of kismis

<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"> 50 gram of almond

<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"> 50 grams of groundnuts if you like

<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"> Desi ghee 30-50 gram

<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">50 gram of grinded coconut

<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">Method :
Take the pan which can accommodate your ingredients
First heat the pan and then put ghee into it
Then put crushed carrot in each. You can skip carrot bones for better taste, but I would recommend not to exclude those for nutrition value.
Keep stirring unless your carrot takes a darker colour or remains half.
Then add milk or mawa in as well as chopped dry fruits of your choice.
Keep stirring unless you are unable to find traces of milk or mawa
And it's now ready to serve as hot or chilled as you prefer
One thing you may have noticed that I have not included sugar in it. I like the raw taste of all these in form of halwa.
In case if you do require it sweet you can add 200 gram
In the last stage of halwa
But now let's talk about the person who is health conscious or a diabetic person who a sweet halwa but can't take a bite due for sugar in it
In that case Sugar free comes to rescue you. It tastes pretty close to sugar

Being graduated from Computer science I know how much effort it takes to make an effortless application. Since my initial days I loved open source. Which gave me freedom to sneak into real code and able to tweak them according to my need. Therefore, I chose Linux over Windows and similarly Android over iOS.

I thought I will have freedom and security of Linux in Android as well. But I got the freedom of Linux but not the security - Why? Actually this has two reasons to mention:
1. No lock for app install: This is one of the major advantage and disadvantage of Android ecosystem. You have to freedom to install apps from Google Play Store as well as from other app stores as well like- Amazon Appstore and UC Browser/Opera Browser. And even you can install apk from anywhere. This is why it gets tricky. If you install apps other than from Google Play Store you may find yourself in danger of leaking your sensitive data through apps.
2. Market share: We know as of 2015 Q2 Android market share reached 82.8% (Source) . But with great market share comes great security threat. This was/is true for Windows (PC) and still holds true for Android too. This is the reason you need antivirus on Windows and Android.
3. Lots of freeware: Freewares are good thing but if you don't know its history its hard to say what it does besides its claimed functionality. This is where we Indian can get unlucky, due to budgetary constraints we usually rely on freeware which may compromise heavily with device security and memory consumption. And out of freely available apps we used to install tons of applications whether we use them or not.

This is where 360 Security Lite came to rescue. It has inbuilt antivirus as well as cool features for Android smartphones. Here are some snaps
This app got following notable features:

One tap antivirus scanning

One tap Junk cleanup

One tab speed boost of system

Widget to help one tap control these three as well controlling the flash light of camera.

Above all it gives us detailed information which application is compromising with security, Disk space or System memory. You can pin down individual app and remove them as well if they not needed.
It effectively free up disk space by removing junk files and frees RAM by stopping battery draining application. This is why it can be said #MadeForIndia. Overall very nice app and simple interface to use.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
